NCAR AIRBORNE INSTRUMENTATION LIST

NCAR maintains and encourages relationships with universities and other scientific organizations and involves them in its long-term mission to provide scientific and technical leadership in addressing significant questions in atmospheric science. Airborne instruments are important tools for atmospheric research. NCAR wants to share its long-standing expertise in building airborne instruments and in securing quality atmospheric measurements by making its instrumentation available to the community.

The NCAR list consists of two categories of instruments:
  • ATD-supported instruments (RAF and RSF)
  • Research instruments

ATD-supported instruments: RAF or RSF provide a calibrated dataset. Information about a particular instrument can be obtained from the respective resource person/developer and facility use requests can be submitted to the NCAR/ATD Director's Office

Research instruments: The availability of research instruments for field experiments depends on the instrument's suitability for the desired measurement and the scientific priority of the NCAR division involved. For requests and information contact the respective resource person/developer or the relevant division director. Installation and adaptation to a platform, including inlets and connection to the aircraft data system (if required), requires participation of ATD/RAF.
