RAD OCTOBER

Meeting Summaries and Reference Materials

Short term goal:  To jointly develop a Java multi-platform 3-D display with the following initial capabilities:

        - Display and view radar data as a 3-D object
        - Display satellite area files underneath radar volume
        - "slice and dice" the radar volume in the vertical and horizontal planes
        - Animate the radar volumes and satellite images in time
        - Add other instrument data (e.g. a balloon sounding) to the 3-D display with track that changes color with temperature
        - Display the balloon sounding as a separate skew-T display window

Later: Extend the package for near real-time data from various instruments and
            Ops Center functions:

        - Ability to handle data from multiple radar
        - Enhanced 2-D radar displays
        - Redesigned user interface and architecture
        - Ability to display multiplatform data in separate windows with separate displays
